Men’s Basketball Begins Three-Game Home Stand on Thursday

The Lindenwood men’s basketball team (7-16, 2-8 OVC) hosts Eastern Illinois (7-16, 3-7 OVC) Thursday at Hyland Arena at 7:00 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo.

The Lions are coming off a loss to Tennessee State on Saturday. Lindenwood finished the game by shooting 45 percent from three-point range and scoring 28 points in the paint, but the Lions couldn’t keep up with the Tigers’ torrid night of shooting. Chris Childs left 7-of-13 and led the Lions by 18 points. Kevin Caldwell Jr. racked up 14 points and grabbed 5 boards while also giving out four assists and racking up a pair of steals.

Childs continues to lead the team with a 13.1 scoring average while Caldwell Jr. and Keenon Cole each an average of 12.2 per competition. Cole leads the squad with an outstanding 53.3 shot rate from the field while efficiently taking 46.7 percent of his three points.

Caldwell Jr. is nearing the assists century mark as the Alton, Illinois native has 75 assists in his 21 games played. Caldwell Jr. has the most minutes (33.8) per game in the Ohio Valley Conference Cam Burrell ranks second in the league with 34 blocked shots.

Lindenwood will begin their three-game home streak on Thursday as the Lions also host UT Martin and SIUE next week. The Panthers are led by Kinyon Hodges, who is averaging 14.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Yaakema Rose leads the team with 4.2 rebounds per game as he adds 9.9 points per contest.

UT Martin will visit St. Charles for a tip at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
